Dwight: Actually, your description of what the MM's do is very close to what I call "manipulation". All a matter of semantics, I guess.

The MM actions can falsely (for lack of a better word) indicate demand, just by buying amongst themselves. Then, individuals like you and I see the increased volume and rising price ... and jump on the train before it gets too far away from the station.

I don't know anything for sure, but it just smells funny. Not to be construed as a negative comment. It happens all the time. It just seems a little more obvious on a light trading day.
