Well, it would appear the "stimulus package" is dead, and the market has been down since the news came out.

I have a feeling that, despite all the signs that we might be seeing an economic recovery, that we needed this additional stimulus (just not all the pork barrel spending).

Gold has been on a tear recently as well, and one wonders if that played a part in the decision to shelve the package? Personally, I think it's the Japanese purchasing (or the perception that they are), causing the gold shorts to cover.

I may be wrong about the need for this stimulus package, but my gut tells me it will be required to shake us out of this malaise and disorder following the ENE debacle (which tops the LTCM fiasco by many orders of magnitude).
