Starbase's CaliberRM Helps Landmark Graphics Speed Application Time To Market
Implementing Requirements Management With CaliberRM Establishes Improved Development Processes
biz.yahoo.com
SANTA ANA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 6, 2002--Starbase Corp. (Nasdaq:SBAS), the leading provider of end-to-end collaborative products for both the development and management of content and code for enterprise and e-business applications, today announced that Landmark Graphics Corp., a wholly owned business unit of Halliburton Co. (NYSE:HAL), has implemented CaliberRM, a collaborative requirements management system, for requirements management, with plans to use the tool to drive the definition and verification of their next synchronous release of integrated solutions for the oil and gas industry.

``Having solid requirements as we envision, define and plan this project is critical,'' stated Perna Pierre, QA and New Technology Manager for Landmark Graphics.

``CaliberRM provides us with an easy-to-use central repository that will allow our product teams to define and organize their requirements, track the relationships between requirements, share requirements information and generate requirements documents.''

Continued Pierre, ``Any product that is part of this next synchronous release must have requirements in CaliberRM and all requirements approved before moving to development.''

Landmark Graphics is a leading supplier of decision-making software and services for the oil and gas industry. With a synchronous application release, several products are tightly integrated and changes made to one product have a ripple effect on the entire release. As a result, the need to have appropriate requirements defined prior to beginning development is significantly increased.

``Landmark Graphics demonstrates how companies are able to gain control of their development projects by implementing and enforcing a requirement-driven process with CaliberRM,'' stated Lydia Patterson, vice president of marketing for Starbase.

``By establishing requirements during project definition and approving them prior to development, companies have the potential to improve productivity and product quality substantially.''

CaliberRM will help drive the definition, planning, verification and testing for Landmark Graphics' software application development. Using CaliberRM's impact analysis capabilities, Landmark will be able to investigate the impact of changes prior to making them, allowing decision makers to see how the project scope, delivery and costs will be affected.

In addition, Landmark has implemented Mercury Interactive Corp.'s TestDirector®, a Starbase partner solution, to interface with CaliberRM. TestDirector is a global test management solution for organizing and managing the testing process.

``The easy integration between CaliberRM and Mercury Interactive's TestDirector was key in our decision to purchase TestDirector,'' added Pierre. ``With the integration, we will be able to shorten our time to market in the verification and testing stage. By establishing good requirements during project definition, our testers will know what to test, create test cases early and review them prior to execution, ensure all requirements are tested and access project information quickly via the Web.''

``CaliberRM's customizable support allows us to define and implement our unique requirements management workflow,'' continued Pierre. ``We are now training others at Landmark on the importance of having requirements drive their entire development lifecycle and educating them on this process, which benefits our entire company.''

Pierre will be discussing Landmark's use of both CaliberRM and Mercury Interactive's TestDirector as part of the Starbase Seminar Series: Gaining Control of Your Development Process. Pierre's presentation titled ``Requirements-Based Testing Using CaliberRM and TestDirector'' will be held on Feb. 7, 2002, at the Marriott Las Colinas in Dallas.
