Don't you think that a prolonged deep recession might have a greater impact on the nation's morales, stress, health, happiness, ability to defend itself, and maybe even premature loss of life than those attacks?

If so, then such a prospect would justifiably bring the markets to lower levels than the attacks.

Add to that the exhaustion of "patriotic" buying and that the market was in a long term decline anyway and it doesn't take too much to see the Sep lows being broken.
