I am not an accountant But imagine the fame and fortune that would accrue to you if you were to play one on TV! a quick glance at the value line indicates that this is not true. It sounds like you are referring to a Value Line investment report. If so, they have a line for cash flow per share, and another for capital expenditures per share. Do you see any years for which the former is greater than the latter? If so, then in that year they made a real profit. The non-accountant can also check S&P sheets, as they also have lines for cash flow and capital expenditure. Or they can also review posts on this thread which describe how to do this at home, even if underage. - Pirah
