Two things. First, a lot of the economic activity was pushed from Q3 to Q4, because of 9/11. And second, some of the economic activity in Q4 was "pulled" from Q1 of 2002, especially in autos and retail.

I wouldn't bet that the bottom is in. As far as the stocks go, I think we will make a bottom sometime towards the end of the year, leading to a cyclical bull market.

(But if we were to go down to 1200 on the Nasdaq and the cyclical bull takes it to 1800 over the following two years i.e. more than 20% annualized returns, a lot of the LTBH crowd will be wondering what the hullabaloo is all about!)
