Unfortunately, a little thing called an "audit trail" is the only method of clarifying the truth in public business, government or public corporations dealing with public money.
Until the $170 billion/month in federal expenditures is published in an auditable website so the public can drill down to look at any transaction (like the GAO should, but probably doesn't, do), we'll have opportunities for what avuncular ol' rascal James Baker III lovingly called "mischief", in quite another context.
Thievery and criminality, in other words, in the trillions, eventually.
Of course, in the meantime we have the safety of knowing Anderson is looking out for all of us, at the FBI anyway. |
