I have been in science before. Priority fights were my daily nuicance.
Not so much with competitors, as you could always refer to your prior publication.
But with BOSSES it was really ugly. You suggested an experiment in the weekly seminary, no response. 4 weeks later the experiment was carried out by someone and no gratefullness whatsoever. Then you started to conceal your ideas. Or you traded them to someone who deserved it.
