Netro Corporation Announces Contract to Provide Broadband Wireless Equipment to Mobile Phone Operator MobiFon S.A. in Romania MobiFon S.A. (Connex) of the Vodafone Group will use Netro's equipment for cellular backhaul and data services
SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan 29, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Netro Corporation (Nasdaq: NTRO chart, msgs), a leading provider of broadband wireless access systems, today announced it has provided its AirStar(TM) System to European mobile phone operator MobiFon S.A. (Connex), a company of the Vodafone group. MobiFon S.A. is using the AirStar System for the backhaul of its GSM network and for IP and frame relay data services in Romania. Netro shipped AirStar products to MobiFon in the third quarter and fourth quarters of fiscal year 2001. The Netro AirStar System is already deployed with other companies within the Vodafone group in Greece and Portugal.
