The interesting thing here is that AMD will have a sub 15watt, high performance part available next quarter for notebooks.

The 20 watt (and higher, and higher) parts being marketed by both AMD and Intel for notebooks are suitable for the 3-spindle desktop replacement units, but not systems expected to be used as... Notebooks.

ASPs for low power, high performance CPUs have stayed very high. This market looks to be slipping away from Intel this year, and moving to AMD.

What will Dell do? A very significant part of their profits come from these high margin low power / high performance notebooks. They make more money on one high end notebook than 20 "you're getting a Dell" entry level desktops.

The fabled Dell win for AMD is looking, if not inevitable, then certainly a lot less unlikely.
