According to Greenspan, the economy will recover without the stimulus package. I remember when Clinton proposed a stimulus package back in his early days as President. It was almost universally decried by Republicans as being inconsequential and a bad idea etc. Why is this one different? Aren't republicans supposed to believe in the free market and a laissez-faire attitude to economics? BTW, I heard on CNBC this A.M. that there is a good possibility of short term interest rates going up soon. Surely, the Fed wouldn't do that if they didn't think the economy was already recovering. Unless, there is another devastating terrorist attack, I think we are headed back to economic growth soon, if not already there. All, JMHO, of course I could be wrong :-)
