Most of it is pretty meaningless, and involves competition about the routes that went on during the last Administration. Since we were supporting the Northern Alliance ourselves during the Afghanistan campaign, the reference to the Russians "arming them" in contravention of our wishes was bizarre. Equally bizarre was the idea that the State Department worked to fund and train the Taliban (during the Clinton Administration). If such activity had transpired, it would have been done by one of the intelligence agencies, most likely the CIA. But the main thing is this---- she says, referring to the French book, that the evidence of Bush Administration interference with efforts against Al- Qaida hangs on this:

The book quotes John O'Neill, former director of anti-terrorism for the FBI, who thought the U.S. State Department, acting on behalf of United States and Saudi oil interests, interfered with FBI efforts to track down Osama bin Laden.

Pretty thin stuff. He "thought" that the State Department (?) interefered with FBI efforts to track down OBL. Hmmmm---

As for the more conspiratorial nonsense in the other letter, none of it appears here.......
