I'm not trying to analyze the present system from a moral point of view. I'll leave that to others. I'm analyzing it on whether it is producing economic growth. And it is!

It is that growth that is the best hope for the conditions that your posts depict. Without growth, we are no better than the birds you mention fighting over an inadequate food supply.

The developing world is growing faster than the advanced economies and I think it will continue. In ten years, at present growth rates, China's economy will be bigger that that of the United States. It's easy for them to grow because they can just buy the technologies that have already been developed. For the U.S. to continue to grow requires new technologies.

It is precisely the demand for technology that will make companies in this field good investments, IMO and makes those who think the U.S. economy is all that matters very shortsighted.
