First, I don't know where that number comes from, even thought it has been propagated heavily. The stock was $40 when employees were eagerly buying and selling it like the rest of the investors. With 746 million shares, that amounts to a $29 billion loss for all investors. There are plenty of companies with shady undisclosed insider practices that are now bankrupt or down over 95% with more than $29 billion "swindled" from investors.
