wbmw, The same team working on Banias also worked on Timna, which was a completely finished product before it became apparent that the only memory technology supported by the integrated memory controller (everyone's beloved RDRAM) was never going to be widely accepted by the market. I think the product had other problems as well. Lack of performance, or should I say lack of MHz. It was below regular Coppermine, and it was at the time Coppermine was getting completely blown away by Athlon. Even if they got it up to 800 to 900 MHz range, it is too little too late, since you can buy Duron and Celeron in 1 GHz to 1.3 GHz for peanuts. Also, shrinking an integrated product such as Timna to newer process technologies must be more complicated than regular non-integrated CPUs. Joe
