TXN ($29-$30)..P/E 93.. beats and guides higher and cuts capex spending...

Reports Q4 pro forma EPS of ($0.06), $0.03 better than consensus; revs came in at $1.79 bln vs consensus of $1.67 bln

Update -- The co expects Q1 EPS to be "about breakeven" and revs to be sequentially flat with Q4, which is higher than the consensus of ($0.06) and $1.69 bln.

Update -- Announces that FY02 capex will be $800 mln, compared with $1.8 bln in FY01; to put this in context, Salomon Smith Barney had estimated $1.2 bln in capex for FY02, so it appears that TXN's number is a bit lower than what the Street had expected. According to TXN: "The decline follows significant capital expenditures in 2000 and the first quarter of 2001 to install the initial production line of TI's new DMOS6 300-millimeter fabrication facility in Dallas and to upgrade three analog fabrication facilities to 200-millimeter wafers."
