Consumer Credit numbers out today are worth a mention. December credit numbers came out at 3:00 and probably had some to do with the late weakness. Consumer Credit was forecast at +$8.7 bil but came in at -$5.1 Bil, biggest drop since 1990. This does not bode well for a recovery driven by consumer buying. Credit card debt was a minus 8.2 bil. Hard to imagine Christmas sales were as good as they say if credit debt was that much lower.

FWIW, Joe
