Elmer, Back during the Rambus debates, my opinion was that Timna had a potential of taking the best advantage of Rambus memory, because of the integrated memory controller. The combination of serial interface 16 bit, feeding a more of a parallel 64bit FSB in the traditional implementation is basically the worst of both worlds. I believe that Timna had a potential of good memory performance (assuming it was not intentionally crippled). I don't know about clock speeds, but somehow I have serious doubt that Timna matched or exceeded Coppermine. It seems that a big chunk of the company (Intel) was force-marched to get Coppermine to 1 GHz and to believe that the team in Israel did it with ease, while carrying additional baggage on CPU die, is hard to believe.
