Albert: Well, I just finished a nice conversation with Brian Rieser. He just returned from the Nat'l Ed. Comp. Conf. in Seattle. Very good attendance and lots of interest in their product. Good feedback from Apple on the proposed bundling. To get people to sign on the dotted line, however, they need a finished product out of beta, and this will be a few more weeks. As far as the publisher distribution, this will take place in the Fall, nearer to the Christmas season. A third item of interest is the proposed jv relationship with ZooBooks. They have picked up some inventory of an initial CD-ROM put out by ZooBooks, and now are in the process of signing a licensing agreement to use that name. They will develop CD-ROMs that parallel that series of children's books. This should sell very well. Possible niches would be gift shops at the zoos aroung the country, and TV ads on shows like discovery, etc. Sounds good to me. The annual report is on Ben's desk ready for signing, so we should see a filing soon. Two things to note here, costs associated with closing the Dallas office and the abandoned merger. Also, March quarter was weak as far as sales go. June quarter has picked up as more schools move from internet/CD-ROM hardware procurement to software.
Bottom line is we have some more waiting to do, but things are on track and this company will be a big success one of these days, IMO.
Hope this answers most of your questions. Have a great 4th. Lee |
