does anyone know how the S&P 500 get weighted? is it by market cap? If NEM's market cap continues to go higher, does it get a higher weighing in the index? the way it got traded yesterday shows accumulation by some big funds in my opinion, looks like the funds who correlate with the S&P want to move into the company before the move and there is a big scramble for shares; as gold moves higher, the bigger players and more well known companies will be bought by the bigger funds first...NEM fits the perfect bill to be the beneficiary of market leader status endowed upon by index weighted funds
