I have mixed feelings about Banjeri's commentary on the ECRI weekly leding indicator.
Followed that one for a while.
Some months ago, the rationale was to use a monthly average (4 ma) of the index and to compare the value to that average the year before.

So doing, the first warning came in June 2000 and was confirmed in Nov 2000.

If it i true that the monthly average has bottomed in Oct 2001, it remains that the current reading is 120.1 vs. 122.17 one year ago = still bearish by ECRI's rationale of some months ago.

Banjeri has been calling for a recovery since start of the year. No mention anymore of comparisons with the year before.
Taking the risk to call it over early?
I don't know anymore.
