Sponsoring an F1 team is $10M to $20M per year... hard to see how that is a smart investment for AMD. The usual justification for this kind of expense is that it gives sales people an opportunity to shmooze big customers. But usually it's just a boondoggle for the top execs in the sponsoring company.
