wouldn't "identical" be like if MSFT and INTC were majority owners of a retail chain like COMPUSA? isn't QCOM now a majority owner of a carrier?

MSFT bought $5 Billion worth of T a couple of years ago.

I'm not sure what the exact details are but the word was that when AOL tried to enter into the bidding for AWE's cable assets that MSFT was participating in multiple different bids....just to make sure AOL didnt get the assets.

Sure....Qualcomm is a majority owner of Vesper (vs MSFT's minority stake in T) but the importance of T to MSFT far outstrips Vesper's to Qualcomm.

If Vesper does well this year it would probably provide $17.5m in revenues (based on 500,000 handset sales).

Honestly, sometimes I think Qualcomm does these deals just as some sort of evangelical crusade for CDMA....
