There is an AMAT Off-topic thread, where one may feel free to discuss any topic at length.

Believe it or not, this started out very much on topic. We were discussing whether or not the PC and semiconductor markets were limited in their growth prospects due to the maturing of their U.S. markets.

I pointed out that the developing countries make up 37% of the world's output and are growing twice as fast as the developed world. This should provide excellent opportunities for growth as these areas of the world modernize both their capital structure and their citizens buy goods containing electronics.

I am sanguine that this forecast will prove correct. Whether or not growth produces equitable wealth distribution and is desirable, is beyond the point and truly is off topic. Personally, I don't think anything will stop that growth from coming as individuals exercise their freedoms and try and improve their lives.
