I get francophone programming from DishNetwork, and for a few months they had all the Arabic channels in clear as a promotion last year (in the spring.)

Very little of Al Jazeera is in English, and I don't recall subtitles. I think I'd have subscribed if the news channel itself had been available cheaper, but I didn't want an entire arabic package. I did think it might be fun to pick up a little arabic, at least to learn the pronunciation of the alphabet, but haven't gotten around to it.

It takes nearly infinite time to get any real competence in a foreign language (as an adult anyhow) so I didn't have any illusions, but knowing a bit about the phonetic system might have been fun.
