Brian, I was thinking of buying some yesterday also, but decided to wait till Monday because of the wash rule (sold all remaining GLW just above 10 a month ago). Right now I am planning to buy some back on Monday, I will think of it some more over the weekend.
I wonder if you or anyone else caught that interview on CNBC MarketWeek yesterday with that MIT guy. This guy is more into biotech, but he said one of the two areas that is exciting to him going forward is last-mile broadband wireless from the people, to the people. Going from memory, he basically said that over the next 2-4 years there will be a bunch of small companies using the unregulated regions of the spectrum (used now for garage door openers, etc.) in very creative ways that will in in effect bring broadband to the masses. I think he said it will hit the telecom industry like the internet hit the computer industry, if I have that right. If he is right about all this, then it is a very exciting time right now indeed.
Any comments on this anyone?
Seems that this would be very good for telecom equipment suppliers. I don't know who does best going forward if this happens, take your pick. GLW, CSCO, AMCC, PMCS, JNPR, CIEN, JDSU maybe? The last mile bottleneck is really interesting to me, and I would not mind recovering some losses in this telecom space as this problem gets solved.
