Daschle voted with the majority on the farm-subsidy bill. At least in the Midwest, the vote was on a state-by-state basis, rather than a Democrat-Republican basis. With a couple exceptions, the Midwestern/Great Plains senators voted with the majority. Those exceptions were the four senators from Missouri and Montana, who voted "yes" ... in the minority, i.e., not to cap the subsidy. Both Missouri and Montana each have one Democratic and one Republican senator.
