You are absolutely correct. I spent the day listening to my son, and observing him. Birth order says a lot. I read the books, but prayer comes first. I have been really convicted to surround him with prayer! He loves the Lord, which is wonderful! Maturity will happen, and the obvious effect, will be evident in his behavior!

He shares well. He has an incredible sense of right and wrong. Today, he said, "please, do not drive until I have my seat belt on." He wanted it on, before I moved an inch! In that respect, he was listening to my instruction, and I am very happy! He will often say what is right and wrong, and he is a little rule guy, but I am trying to temper his behavior with love, and reasons for the rules. It is important to me, that he understands the reasons for behavior. Don't we all ask, "why Lord?" I want reasons too!!

I really think he will not be a follower, but a follower of Jesus. :) As Christians, we balance a fine line, trying not to alienate. For instance, he was not interested in seeing "Harry Potter," for obvious reasons. The fact that he reached this conclusion on his own let him feel that it was his suggestion. I was not planning to let him see it, anyway. But, then, there are boys and girls with whom he plays, that not only saw it, but bought into the "advertising blitz," and they have backpacks etc. That has to be difficult to tell people, at five, that you prefer not to see that, due to the content. That is in my language, rather than a person of five. :)

I am not encouraging Power Rangers, because, all I need to rev up an very active, strong, tall boy, but other boys want to play Power Rangers. At Five, he wants to be a hero, "Billy Blaze," the Rescue Hero, or "Buzz Lightyear." I have observed six and seven year olds, usually with brothers that are older, that have outgrown this stuff. So, my son who loves my PDA, Computers, Science, and learning, is sometimes on a different plane entirely.

I am very happy with all the wonderful things I see, but life can be difficult and I guess, I am going to have to let him see that, and what I can do, is pray for him, and try to be the best influence possible, reinforce him, and gently correct the behavior that needs correcting.

On a neat note, he is become more of a selfless person, and I see him wanting to help others.

I am not going to worry, but pray. Let's face it, a sensitive guy is alright! :)

Your feedfack about the boys in your family, is great!
