Come on, Thomas, most of the land was "state land, it went from Ottoman ownership, to British ownership to the Israeli state ownership. Have you read Mark Twain's reports from his visit to the holy land around 1860? I can't find a URL for it, but recently there was a PBS show on Mark Twain, and it mentioned his surprise at how empty, desolated and deserted the country was. I'll tell you, apply to the Palestinian the same "citizenship" principle of Kuwait, and you'll find that possibly 15% to 25% "qualify, and most of these are already Israeli citizens. These that really "loved the land" refused to leave in 1948, and no one forced them to leave either.
