You totally distort my contention. My contention has always been that zealots of any persuasion- religious, political, whatever- are to be feared. I have often said that religions (all of them) appear to do some good- and I am not the person to do the calculus as to whether they do more good than ill. I will leave that up to folks who argue about angels on pins. Such a line of investigation is not for me.

It is too bad you have so greatly misconstrued what I have said. Nothing much does change on SI, and it probably is good for your health to spend less time here. I am not terribly excited about a discussion with someone who has managed to so greatly misinterpret what I've written. There are many reasons why the statistics for prison populations might be what they are, or might be fatally flawed. If you find the statistics, draw your own conclusions. My conclusions are not hard and fast- I merely mentioned the statistics because I find them funny. They do not necessarily lead me to believe that religious people are evil, as you imply. And since you are so far off the mark, I'm not really eager to assist you or have a discussion with you. It would seem a waste of my time.
