I remember when I first got off the plane in California. I went into a very big bank in SF city (I think it was Wells Fargo) and tried to change some sterling into dollars.

The girl behind the counter became very concerned when I showed the strange notes. Eye flashes were exchanged with the security guy to the extent I noticed it, and I saw he was armed too.

Then came the remark (this is a true story folks)

"What... don't they have dollars over there?"

Every bank in the UK has foreign exchange btw. The worst place to exchange dollars is the airport. I was trying to use my smarts when I landed in the USA -g-
