Rus,
But she wasn't specific,..which I as an investor would want her to be. Even a complex problem can be summarized quickly and succinctly by a smart person like REK, and she had to know the question was coming.
Specific, so. Summarize, yes.
So I assume she didn't want to answer it directly because it may reflect poorly on the drug, whether HC is right or not.
Life is not fair. I cannot appologize for our economic system nor ethical world views. Unfortunately, RK is paid to maximize shareholder value.
Ever go to a restaurant and ask for a recommendation? Yah, well, what if you were told not to order the soup da jour because the nut in the kitchen has a bad habit of ___ in the broth? Such is our economic and ethical systems. Self interest.
Now HC is there to protect the consumer from drugs that may hurt us and/or provide no benefit. They have degrees, experience, and their own viewpoint. They have access to the medical profession and researchers.
How can one argue against the first sentance? HC as an org has that mandate, the purpose of their existance. Meaning of life.
The second sentence is fair game. HC as a collection of people is another story. These people have computers, internet connections, free to chit chat, post opinions, trade a few shares, dance, drink and be merry. You may point out the ND they probably signed or a code of ethics adopted. Well let me fill you in on the depravity of man ....
So we are left to chose who we should believe, HC or REK. I don't know who to believe,
I see you do know about the depravity of man. Meaning of life, again.
but given what is happening with other drug companies and companies in general, we know companies will emphasize the positive, try and make us ignore the negative. QLT, Biovail, ImClone, Elan, Enron, Nortel, Internet, Tech, etc., etc.
You should include Pharmacia (who snuck in the 6mo vs 12mo Celebrex study) and Merck Vioxx in your list. Again our economic system.
Wouldn't it be nice to have HC's viewpoint?
Yes. Utopia!
There may be absolutely nothing wrong except for the bumbling incompetence of HC investigators as popularized by REK and this thread of pro shareholders. Or,.....
Note, I did not make the list of famed pumpers!! Dang.
PS,..maybe you are right about the pot thing. Maybe they should prescribe it to suffering DMX shareholders to ease the pain of the latest slap in the face (ggggggggg)
Russett, that's a penetrating comment. Rub it in! No pun of course intended. It wouldn't surprise me if they and their associates did! |
