Someone here posted that the Sony Li Poly technology is not up to much compared to VLNC's technology. Maybe they are onto something.

I bought two cellphones recently. One is a Sony J70e with a Li Ion battery. The other is a Sony CMD Z7e with a Li Poly battery. The Li poly battery is 10% smaller than the Li ion but has 15% less capacity.

Li Ion is 3.9V with 800 mAh
Li Poly is 3.9V with 680 mAh

So my question to Sony is what's the point? Is Li Poly sposed to be cheaper to manufacture. I was under the impression Li Poly was sposed to give more charge for the same size battery compared to other technology.

I haven't got my hands on a VLNC Li Poly battery (surprisingly enough <g>) so can't make a comparison. I was speaking to someone at a fairly big Carphone Warehouse store where they stock the Pogo with a VLNC Li Poly. He told me his store has not sold one example of this product and he can't imagine why anyone would ever buy it. He says some other stores have sold them though, so they are out there.
