Ref <Tenchusatsu. I don't think you should have posted the 'Prepare to be surprised' line. >

Every set of chip designers believe that the next design will wipe out the competition. In practice this rarely happens because the competition also has something up its sleeve, and mostly the status quo holds.

Dont the AMDroids presently believe that Hammer series will wipe out Intel ? Historically if you follow the message boards each generation of design was going to be the ultimate weapon. Prepare to be surprised is an old hackneyed phrase.

Banias was publically discussed by Intel more than a year ago, as a new core to succeed P3, but which would have much lower power dissipation than a P4. It has even been written about in the Israel press. The exact specs will probably not be disclosed until the product is further along leading to speculation by me.

Tench was not disclosing anything new, and his statement was in the same vein as "Wait until the Hammer",or "Wait until K-5". He has taken needless abuse, and since he is such a nice person, I am outraged.
