That's quite a powerful affirmation, one that you obviously formulated carefully. Whatever it cost you to get there, it was worth it. It is very insightful of you to recognize bad trading decisions as reverse natural selection. One reason I strive toward a totally mechanical system is that I am exceedingly talented at trading the worst performing stocks out of any list I develop by screening. Left unsaid in your post are what the psychological insights were which led to your revelations. Can you comment on those, if not publicly, at least in a PM? I believe that trading is psychology. Once we understand ourselves, the barriers are lowered to understanding how to trade.

Permit me to share with you part of the mantra taped to my screen, obviously influenced by Douglas and Toppel:

"Think only price and volume. Do not interpret what you see. Do not label what you see. Do not ascribe motive to what you see. Do not believe anything about what will happen at any time during the day. Every day is unique. Anything can happen, and you don’t need to know what it is, only how you will respond if it does. Your responses are rigidly dictated by the rules of your system. Take every signal it gives, without exceptions. If you think you’ve found a valid exception, change your rules."
