Ameritrade, changed their policy to a more sensible one .... i remember when Schwab Canada went the other way, started charging a lot extra per share for orders of over 1k, there was considerable discussion on it on keith massey's DtiC thread - #Subject-22429 - and a lot of people dropped them right there of course, how fantastically stupid, a ticket written is a ticket written no matter the number in #shares box ... well there are fees and charges per share, but they are miniscule ... at that point i was on the verge of starting a Schwab account, just forgot the whole idea right there .... TDW is 29 loonies minimum within the country, or 1.5%, so my typical order is ~2kCdn in value and up, i have accounts with other houses but don't use them much, for reasons of both price and inefficiency ... Merrill sold me to Gundy, don't know how that will work out, not in effect yet for online trading ... that's about the twelfth change in ownership of 'my' house since Doherty Roadhouse way back when, geez i swear sometimes the name at the top of the statements changed more often than i traded
