Do you have the latest virus definitions. If not, Norton may not recognize the virus as being one. Knowing what you already know about the virus, I wouldn't suggest opening it to test Norton but I don't believe Norton or any other anti-virus program will recognize the email as a virus unless you try to open it. Some isp's scan email for keywords and some have virus scanners on their servers that scan attachments for signatures to stop them before they get to you. The last virus I got was detected when I drug the suspicious email onto my desktop to scan it directly with AVG. You can drag it to your desktop and right click it and choose "scan with norton" from the menu. If it's not detected as a virus it's possible your isp has already cleaned it or removed the attachment. This is all JMO and is not to be taken as fact. I'm not positive about any of this.
