Intel's connection with Ovshinsky goes back to the late 60s, when it fabbed some of the ovonic devices for him. Doubtful in the extreme that the recent work on memories carries over in any significant way to general CPU design--a useful parallel to think about is whether the very real work in EPROM or flash ever carried over in any significant way to CPUs, modulo the 8748 and similar microcontrollers I'm planning to keep tabs on this latest incarnation of ovonics, but I still remember reading while I was in high school the credulous reports on how "Ovonics" would be the Next Big Thing...and that was circa 1969, two years before I'd even heard of Intel. --Tim May
