Hi Bob,
I have monitored this debate between you, cary and own stock. Am i wrong in thinking that the corruption at enron is symbolic of the oil industry attitude particularly on the international level which has always been mired in angles, intrigue, bribery etc. etc. What makes enron unique is the Andersen angle which confused its(andersens) two divisions---consulting and accounting. This needs to be stopped at once in US corporate life. If it had not existed, enron execs would certainly have controlled the extent of their greed. Capitalism is based on greed but without some, hopefully minimal, controls in place it can become hopelessly corrupt(see russia). Sometimes controls stifle creativity and growth but sometimes they are necessary. Republicans sometimes err on the side of decontrol and the dems on the side of too much control. Just my two cents. mike
