Eclectus, I think that Arafat turned it down because he was too weak to control the radical fundamentalists who had control. In a population with the demographics of the Palestinians, radicalism is a huge threat. Those people who want peace are carried along with the tide. Maybe in the wake of enough funerals and sadness, people will view peace differently and the radicals will lose their power. Probably not with the clerics screaming their vitriol. I sure don't have any answers but it is clear what will not work. Ed
