I once said OK. The blemish was almost microscopic and I felt silly making a fuss over it. In about a year, the seeds sown beneath my paint began to hatch. I was faced with what was brushed off by the dealer as 'surface rust' which could be easily removed with a damp cloth. By the second year, my 'surface rust' had become a hole. The dealer changed his tune. His claim was that I had neglected the car and failed to apply touch-up paint to a stone chip. This car was a Buick. We have a Toyota manufacturing plant near where I live. They make Camry there. In this area, plenty of salt and sand gets applied to the roads during winter. When we have a few days without snow and some sun too, the salt gets airborne and lands everywhere. (Today is one of those days.) I'm not saying this ever becomes a problem for car manufacturers, but both raw materials travel in by road, as well as finished product travels out. I'm don't want to give the impression I dislike Toyota. I'm now driving my fifth (Corolla, truck, 3 Lexus) and I've been very happy with them. My next car will be a Toyota product too. Bye4Now, FD.
