Sometimes that isn't as apparent as we all would like. So far though, over all, IMo they've done a pretty good job, in the long run. We're still here, and the nazis aren't for example. Now it's time to take a closer look at the militant muslims. We should have done it years ago, and it's probably more true than not, that our past behavior of trying to accommodate them is what is causing the problem now. IMO it's still not too late to rectify that mistake. If we wait too long, though.. It may be.
Sooner or later they will acquire weapons that are good enough to REALLY cause disintegration of the rest of the world, even though they probably will never be on par with us. We'll never stop advancing, but sometimes there's a point when your opponent has enough capability to be a serious threat. I don't think they are there yet, but IMO time is running out. Once they get the atom bomb the stakes go up. Now we have to defend against them delivering it, which can be done in a lot of different ways. It doesn't have to be done ICBM style.
The terrorists didn't act in a vacuum, they didn't just appear, they have help, and people need to understand this. You don't get passports, sanctuary, home bases, etc etc etc without someone "on the inside". You don't get "cover" magically, someone/people/goverments are helping them. It's not just bin laden.
The saudis, iraqis, iranians etc etc etc are giving US the lip service, not their people. They're telling their people exactly what they think. And that's the destruction of the west, and all non believers. |
