You are saying it in jest, but I will say it in all seriousness. Unfortunately, your statement is likely to turn out to be true...

Look at what happened in 2001. The markets down some 10% and the Nasdaq in particular down 21%. Yet, there were spectacular rallies, esp for the Naz, of 41% and 44%. Somebody taking advantage of that would be up over 100%, if he had stepped aside during the declines. If he had gone short during the declines, he would have made even more. (Of course, somebody in love with QCOM would have lost 40% during the year, i.e. twice as "good" as the Naz! ;-) . Plus they would have got another 20% haircut within the next couple of months, with promise of a lot more to come...)
