Big news ? EMC Corp improperly recognized revenue

8:40AM SEC speaks with ex-EMC exec. - report (EMC) by Ted Griffith
A former EMC Corp. executive claims in a court deposition that the company improperly recognized revenue and violated business contracts, according to a report in the Boston Globe. The former employee, who is in the midst of litigation with EMC, has been interviewed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, according to the report. A spokesman for the data storage giant was not immediately available for comment Tuesday morning. But the Globe story quotes spokesman Mark Fredrickson as denying the allegations and saying that EMC has not been told that it's under formal investigtaion by the SEC. Ahead of the news, shares of EMC closed up 67 cents, or 5 percent, to $15.04 on Monday.
