Tuesday February 12, 9:15 am Eastern Time Press Release SOURCE: eXcelon Corporation eXcelon to Power Distributed XML and J2EE Applications Deployed on HP Netaction Application Server BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 12, 2002--eXcelon(TM) Corporation (Nasdaq: EXLN - news) today announced that it will offer an XML database and an EJB caching engine to Hewlett-Packard Company's Netaction software customers. eXcelon has agreed to optimize its XIS and Javlin products to ``extend and enhance'' the HP Netaction software suite to enhance the speed, scalability, flexibility and continuous availability of applications built and deployed on the HP Netaction Application Server 8.0.
eXcelon's XIS and Javlin products complement the HP Application Server by persisting XML and Java software assets in a middle-tier operational data store that allows the real-time propagation of data across complex, distributed Internet applications.
HP Netaction products are designed to provide businesses with a flexible foundation to develop, integrate and deploy voice and data services, help solve customer business problems and enable the transformation to an always-on Internet infrastructure.
XIS is eXcelon's market-leading native XML database management system. It allows corporate developers and software engineers to manage large collections of XML documents essential in today's distributed computing architectures, including Web Services.
Javlin, the EJB Data Caching Server, employs a patented, distributed cache architecture to meet the distributed data caching and persistence requirements of middle-tier enterprise J2EE applications. The Javlin data cache server provides the highest performance, flexibility, developer productivity, and scalability of any Java caching solution available.
``With more than 400 of our product licenses running in HP environments, our relationship with HP is critical to our ability to tailor our products to address the unique needs of the HP customer base,'' said Joe Bellini, CEO of eXcelon. ``HP Netaction software is an excellent platform for implementing Web services applications, and we are excited to extend our relationship with HP to address the application performance needs of this critical customer base by incorporating XIS and Javlin into the HP Netaction architecture. Our products are uniquely positioned to complement the HP Netaction product line as customers build more complex distributed applications connecting multiple, disparate systems using XML and Java.''
``eXcelon joins an elite group committed to `extending and enhancing' the HP Netaction environment,'' said Bob Bickel, general manager, HP Middleware Division. ``XIS and Javlin add value to our platform by enabling customers to achieve high performance for critical Web services applications developed and deployed on the HP Application Server.''
