I don't think gold rocks have been common enough long enough for humans to have evolved a reproduction strategy around them. :)
Gold rocks and the like, as Mq pointed out, although not using these exact words, are a reproduction strategy of older males (he mentioned hair dye and toupees - which younger males do not need). However, evolution does not favor reproduction by older males.
Women select mates on the basis of physical qualities like tallness, broadness of shoulders, slimness of hips, muscular physique, strength, speed, regular features, as well as intelligence - - in other words, fitness to reproduce - - just as men do, only men look for different physical qualities in women.
Despite the fact that evolution does not favor reproduction by older males, human males remain capable of reproduction all their lives, whether it's a good idea or not. An older male who no longer posseses the ideal physiological characteristics can still reproduce by providing the female with goodies, like gold. (Although he's unlikely to get the most desireable women that way. The fairest women will mate with the handsomest men.)
