Addi has completely missed the boat. That annual celebration of the anniversary of the 1979 Revolution was indeed sparsely populated in the last 10 years or so, and many of the participants were indeed paid to show up. However, this year there was a large spontaneous turnout, in reaction to George Bush's inflammatory remarks about Iran being part of the "axis of evil". This is a clear example of what Americans don't know (and don't want to know) - that anti-American sentiment is a direct reaction to our foreign policy, not an expression of jealousy at our wealth.
