Mentor to pursue libraries, cores with Chartered
By
Wilsonville, Ore. - Mentor Graphics Corp.'s Inventra business unit will develop standard ASIC cell, memory and data-path libraries for Chartered Semiconductor's 0.35-micron process. The two companies will jointly develop test chips based on some of Inventra's "hard" cores.
The agreement opens a new dimension for Inventra, which was established to market soft, firm and hard cores. The test-chip agreement will help provide a proven path to silicon for circuits in the Inventra CoreAlliance program. The program includes Analog Devices' ADSP2100, Sarnoff's MPEG-2, and Sierra Research's ATM, Ethernet and MIPS cores.
Inventra will develop a design kit with cell libraries, the cell attributes required for use with HDL and various logic synthesis tools.
