I agree that the series is very important

I second that idea. I also think it's particularly important that it appeared in the Washington Post, where most of America's political elite can read it.

We will see a reevaluation of our relationship with the Saudi, I'm sure. I don't know how it will go, but the revelation of their double game -- repressing extremists at home while funding them (paying them off, really) abroad -- does not show well in light of Sept 11th.

It also must sour the US on other Saudi initiatives, like the "peace process". If the US gets the idea that the Saudis were pushing them to spend political capital on the "peace process" in public, while privately funding extremists to ensure that the "peace process" would fail -- well, I don't suppose they will be so eager to listen to Saudi "concerns" in the future.

So, at the end of the day, all you have left is oil. Their need to sell it and our need to buy it.
