I remember in early Oct 1987 a colleague of mine was making fun of me because I was in cash and only making about 14% on my money while he was fully invested in stocks and "cleaning up". Although interest rates are considerably different today, the irrational optimism is similar. Stock prices cannot continue to increase at two to four times earnings increases forever. The higher this mania goes, the more it will have to recover, and it looks to me like a lot of folks are going to get a lesson in economics the hard way eventually. The older I get, the less respect I have for the mass mentality. The sheep will be sheared in due time.
